How did we get here, to create Akron Wing Chun?
It’s funny when you think about when and how the idea of something is sown and begins to take shape. I would have to say the beginning of Victory Defense Systems/Akron Wing Chun, was seeing the original Karate Kid in the 80’s. Little did we know what was in our future, because our martial arts training wouldn’t start for another 12 years! When one’s heart is determined and you are willing to put in the work, amazing things can happen.
In a short period of training time; we had the privilege of learning unique training methods and meeting two Grandmasters. It didn’t take long for the dream of owning and running a school would form for us; not just because we can wear comfortable clothes everyday, but more importantly teaching gives us the ability to affect people in meaningful ways by - building their self esteem, pushing their boundaries, and helping them conquer their fears. What started out as 5 young children in 2007 has continued to grow and blossom. We continually thank God, our families and our students and their families for the continued support, grace, and dedication. Thank you!

Timeless Traditions, Modern Methods
It is our understanding that Wing Chun is a living and breathing art form that will constantly change, like a spoken language. This philosophy has lead us to develop different modalities of teaching that more aptly reflect the society in which we live.
So what does that mean? Since most Kung Fu and other martial arts were created over 300 years ago, some aspects of the style are out of touch with the situations of today. In our instruction, we embrace the principles that have been proven and use modern techniques to teach and utilize those principles. In this way, we can provide our students the best of both worlds, timeless principles and contemporary applications and training.
The results speak for themselves: students learning faster, feeling more confident, having a higher self-esteem, getting in shape and changing lives!

What is Victory Defense Systems?
Akron Wing Chun is one of the classes/courses of study offered by Victory Defense Systems. Victory Defense Systems is an Akron based Kung Fu School founded in 2007. Victory Defense Systems teaches multiple classes - Kung Fu classes for 3 to 6 year olds, 7 to 12 year olds and a Self Defense Course called Keep S.A.F.E.. To help reduce confusion, it was decided to brand our Wing Chun class as Akron Wing Chun making it clearer to determine what was being taught.
