Questions parents ask
Straight answers for families considering Future Tiger Kids or Tiger Kids Kung Fu. Still unsure? Email us— we read every message.
Is this a good fit for a shy or high-energy preschooler?+
Yes. Future Tiger Kids is for ages 3–6 (preschool and kindergarten) — short attention spans, lots of movement, and a gentle introduction to focus and coordination. We meet kids where they are. High-energy students get a healthy outlet; quieter students build confidence at their own pace. Elementary ages 7–12 join Tiger Kids.
Will martial arts make my child aggressive or a bully?+
No. We teach respect and responsibility along with skill. Class is a controlled place to burn energy — not a place to practice picking on others. We have a clear anti-bullying policy: talk with the student, then parents, and dismissal if the behavior continues. Parents often see better self-control at home and school.
What will my child actually learn?+
Age-appropriate Kung Fu basics, coordination, listening skills, confidence, and simple self-protection ideas taught in a fun, structured way. Older kids add more forms, drills, and fitness. We emphasize real skills and character — not flashy competition routines.
When are classes?+
Future Tiger Kids meets during the day. Tiger Kids is afterschool programming. Exact day and time are on the flyer from your child’s school (that’s how most families hear about class). If you found us online first, email us and we’ll confirm the schedule for your location.
Do we need a uniform or special gear?+
No traditional uniform is required. Comfortable athletic wear is fine. Optional school T-shirts are available from our T-shirt store when you want them. We keep startup simple so the first class isn’t a shopping trip.
Where are classes held? Is there a big main dojo?+
We teach at partner schools and community locations (like RiverTree, Growing Places, St. Francis, and St. Luke’s) on purpose — so more neighborhoods can join and tuition stays more affordable. The “school” is the instructors and students, not one building.
Who teaches the classes?+
Adam and Karen Boyer, who have taught together since founding Victory Defense Systems in 2007. Registrations are reviewed by them personally. You’re not signing up with a rotating franchise staff.
How does signup and payment work?+
Register online (class, location, waiver, and tuition policy). You’ll land on a confirmation page that points you to tuition. Choose a school-year PayPal plan and click the PayPal button only once — it can take a few moments to load. Monthly tuition is due by the 10th. Family discounts apply for additional children.
What if we miss a class or need to stop for a while?+
Tuition is monthly, not pay-per-class; make-ups at another location may be available when schedules allow. To discontinue, email us before the next month starts. Injury or special situations — contact us directly and we’ll work with you.
Do you force competition or black-belt clubs?+
No. We are a non-compete school, and we don’t use high-pressure “black belt clubs” or surprise fee jumps. Students advance through hard work and consistent training.
Is there a program for teens or adults?+
Yes — Teen & Adult Wing Chun. On the homepage, the Wing Chun card takes you to AkronWingChun.com to visit or register. Kids programs stay the focus of this family site.
Do you teach religion or mysticism with the Kung Fu?+
No. Families of all backgrounds are welcome. Class time is for martial arts, fitness, and character — not religious instruction.
